Designing products for continuity in everyday life.
Continuity is a personal design perspective that focuses on ease, comfort, and endurance, to harmonize with the flow of everyday life. An effort to achieve the feel of effortless. As an industrial designer, I see a product as a facilitator of time. A design that performs well, can disappear from one’s mind, allowing moments to flow without interruption. In practice, Continuity is a thoughtful use of surfaces that transition utilities, ergonomics, and elegance into one unify form.
I am fascinated by the utility of organic surfaces, and also adore the aesthetic. A slight domed can make a surface feels fuller, more youthful, and sometimes stronger. Surface undulations are also vastly versatile. They can become channels, grips, structural ribbings, or flex points. And they add beautiful rhythms to designs.
I have great admiration for designs that have refined organic surfaces and seamless continuities, because they required high level skills and a lot of patience. And much like hand writings, organic surfaces carry a signature of their creator.
I built all my organic surfaces manually in 3D, no automations, and no ai. I am old-school that way, and it makes me feel more connected to the designs.
I am content with the current self-discovery, as it feels rational and natural to me.
